Whats Worth the Wait?

Have you ever wanted something so bad you were willing to wait 6 years for it?  Why did you wait that long? Why didn't you just let it go, forget about it. Perhaps you were waiting for the right time or maybe  permission to get it. Waiting is hard isn't it? Waiting for that test score, waiting for the next book in the series, waiting for a reply to a text. Usually  you can decrease your wait time but in some situations all you can do is wait.

Promises. We make them and sometimes we have to wait to fulfill them. But I guess that's an unsaid deal of a promise, you must wait.

I was promised something. But not just any ordinary thing. Something loyal, friendly and protective. Something that brought joy and taught love to everyone around it. I was promised ‘it’ 6 years ago and so, my waiting began. Every time I asked my dad for ‘it’ there would be a response that was along the lines of “wait, the right time will come”. I waited and waited through the years occasionally forgetting about wanting ‘it’. Was all that waiting worth it? Is there really a right time for everything? Well let's look at the circumstances: I first asked for ‘it’ when I was a little kid. Being a little kid I had a short attention span and so the next day I forgot all about 'it'. A few years later this thought crept back into my mind and once again I was pleading for this 'thing' I so badly wanted. It was this day I was promised I would get ‘it’ once we moved to our own house with a huge yard and proper room for ‘it’. Many years later my dad's promise was fulfilled and the wait was over. I got what I had wanted for so long.

That brings us to the present day. Were these puppies really worth the wait? Well, in this time of isolation and loneliness when you feel lost and unknown, giving someone a new home and showering them with love fills you with warmth and joy.

So yes, I had to wait. Looking back it makes sense why I had to and why I did, why I didn't let go. You don't get a signal that tells you it's the right time to do something. You are the one who makes the time right.I had always imagined that when we finally did get a puppy there would be immense planning. I thought we would go to the pet store at least three times to do the paperwork and get all the supplies but none of that happened. They just came when I least expected it. So don't just let it go, work for whatever it is that you want. It may take a day, a month, or maybe even years. You will have to wait, that's part of the job. But work towards it, whatever it may be. To get that A+, you have to study. To run a marathon, you have to practice first. Sometimes things happen when you least expect them to. So just patiently wait:)
